Service area: Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas 

The Region 6 PEHSU (Southwest), founded in 1999, is located in Texas at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, and serves Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas. It is one of ten units that make up a national network of PEHSUs.

Specialties & comprehensive services

The Region 6 PEHSU provides education to the public and public health professionals regarding environmental health issues impacting children. Our team includes physicians, health educators, toxicologists and emergency preparedness experts. Our call center is maintained by the West Texas Regional Poison Center, a bilingual resource of health professionals available 24/7.
