PROBLEM: Health professionals from the University of Iowa lacked information on the health effects of environmental hazards on children.
SOLUTION: Region 7 Co-Director, Elizabeth Friedman, MD, held Grand Rounds on the effects of the environment at children’s health at the University of Iowa in 2024.,
IMPACT: After the Grand Rounds, several staff and faculty members, including the Pediatric Chief Resident requested further clinician education and expressed interest in ways to collaborate with PEHSU on curriculum development for health professionals, in partnership with the Iowa Chapter of the America Academy of Pediatrics.
