Pediatric Environmental Health Toolkit

For Health Professionals
PEH Toolkit

Do you get questions from community members about environmental health topics such as PFAS, heavy metals in baby foods, or air pollution? Learn the basics of environmental health with detailed examples about how to deliver anticipatory guidance on a range of environmental health issues, especially during well-child visits. The PEHSU network created the Pediatric Environmental Health e-Toolkit for Prevention a free mobile-friendly online resource for health providers and professionals. You can search for topics by specific chemicals (like lead, mold, or VOCs) or exposure source (like water, air, soil).

Prescriptions for Prevention

For every topic in the PEHT, we have a companion Prescriptions for Prevention, which are online handouts in English and Spanish on health effects and best practices to reduce environmental exposures. Each is easy to read and has simple low or no cost do’s and don’ts. Several Prescriptions have accompanying animated videos, available in both English and Spanish. UCSF has added all 30 environmental hazard and exposure Prescriptions for Prevention into UCSF’s electronic medical system. If you would like to integrate these materials into your EMS, contact the Western States PEHSU at pehsu@ucsf.edu.
