We are a national network of experts in child health issues caused by environmental exposures. Together, we make up the Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Units (PEHSU) and work together to improve health systems to make safer communities for children and families.

Access PEHSU Wildfire Smoke Resources

In January 2025, multiple wildfires spread across Los Angeles, harmfully impacting local air quality. Children are more vulnerable to health effects of poor air quality. As a national network, PEHSU provides information to help protect children’s health before, during and after wildfire smoke events. California is part of Region 9 Western States PEHSU (WSPEHSU), which provides many of the resources below.
